ANIMAS QUEST APPRENTICESHIPS
These one-at-a-time apprenticeships are for those
who seek training in Animas soulcentric approach to guiding the Animas
Quest. Your Quest Apprenticeship can, at any later time, become
part of your Soulcraft Apprenticeship and Initiation Program (see
above) should you decide to enroll in the latter.
Apprentices join a regularly scheduled Animas Quest
group and learn the structure, components, and dynamics of the
Quest from direct experience. Apprentices assist in basecamp activities
when the questers are in camp and also when the questers are out
alone fasting. The latter time is also the primary opportunity
for individualized training for apprentices. In addition to outer
skill development, apprentices are assisted in exploring and cultivating
their own soulcentric development.
All Quest apprentices should have previously completed
at least one quest of their own with either AVI or other
experienced guides. If the candidate has not attended an AVI program,
we ask that they first answer a few questions prior to requesting
a full application from us. More than half of our apprentices
are in training to guide quests of their own or have already had
some experience guiding. Some come to determine whether or not
guiding is really for them. Others seek to develop skills and
sensitivities that will facilitate their work with other related
wilderness, ceremonial, or educational programs.
Areas of training include: wilderness skills, conceptual
foundations of the Animas quest as a modern rite of passage and/or
rite of initiation, the stages and dynamics of human development
and soul initiation, symbolic and ritual foundations of the quest,
soulcentric dreamwork, deep imagery work, personal mythologies,
symbolic interactions with nature, preparation of the contemporary
quester, ceremonial and ritual skills, basic counseling skills,
reincorporation, and understanding transpersonal states of consciousness.
