Special Focus Session: Myth and Soul – Hidden Structural Pathways for Deep Imagination
March 13, 2026
With Kent Dobson
I’d like to explore the use of myths in guiding the descent to Soul, especially in the realm of Deep Imagination and story telling. I’ve been learning that the great myths have a certain resonant imaginal shape which can provide pointers for those on the descent. It’s almost as if telling stories and using ancient imagery awakens psychic pathways, mythic neural groves if you will, which we’ve inherited and are waiting like seeds. I’m also drawn to the notion that certain stories want to be told, want to live, and might even travel – have wings of their own, beyond their ecological origins. Of particular interest is how the maps and models can be in conversation with stories and myths and in some sense provide a less “psychological” way of considering the terrain.
Please sit with, be with, wonder about, a particular myth. Let yourself be drawn to some story. Maybe there is a story that will not leave you alone. Ask it if it wants to be told. Ask whether or not it’s interested in the descent. At the very least, we will spend some time sharing (briefly) some stories that might work in support of transformation, or some specific part of JOSI.

He’s a student of the evolving conversation around the sacred masculine and the sacred feminine. He was lucky enough to grow up in the woods of Virginia, among the hills and streams, as the son…
